Domaine Peyre Rose "Oro" Côteaux du Languedoc 1999

Located in the hills above Saint-Pargoire, between Béziers and Montpellier, the Peyre Rose estate is the brainchild of its winemaker, Marlène Soria. It spans 24 hectares, primarily planted with red grapes (80% Syrah, followed by Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre), with three hectares of white grapes (65% Rolle, 30% Roussanne, and various other varieties including Viognier). This estate has had a meteoric rise, having been established initially simply to produce a small quantity of wine for Marlène Soria and her family. In 1988, when the Languedoc region was not yet in the spotlight, the leading wine critic, American Robert Parker, visited and was captivated by the quality of the wines produced. Several awards followed, contributing to the current reputation of the Peyre Rose name.
