Château Filhot Sauternes 1er Cru Classé 1935

The origins of Château Filhot date back to 1709, when Romain de Filhot created Château Filhot on a vineyard that had existed since the first half of the 17th century. After the French Revolution, the heirs of the Filhot family, the Lur-Saluces, took over the château and undertook its renovation. The Château Filhot estate covers 320 contiguous hectares (including 62 hectares of vines). Classified in 1855, Château Filhot was marketed until the end of the 19th century under the Château Sauternes label. It regained its name in 1901.

Since 1974, Count Henri de Vaucelles, along with his son Gabriel, has managed Château Filhot. Undoubtedly one of the finest estates in the Sauternes region, Château Filhot boasts a high-quality vineyard. More fruity and fragrant than most other Sauternes, this wine is aged in old barrels which give it an incomparable finesse.
