Boasting its gravelly terroir, Château Poujeaux, an exceptional cru bourgeois, was long owned by the Theil family, who worked to build its reputation. George Pompidou was a fan of it. In the Middle Ages, the land of Poujeaux was a seigneury dependent on Latour Saint-Mambert, the future Château Latour.
In 2008, the Cuvelier family (already owners of Clos Fourtet) took over the estate. Continuing the tradition, they injected new energy and ambition into this 52-hectare estate planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot and Malbec.
