The Coche-Dury estate is one of the great figures in white wine making in the world. Raphaël Coche-Dury took over the estate from his father, Jean-François, in 1997. The latter purchased plots of vines over the years to reach the 10.3 hectares that the estate currently has, of which 7.8 are planted with Chardonnay and Aligoté grape varieties (only 2.5 are devoted to Pinot Noir). To date, Raphaël applies a winemaking process that reinforces the natural expression of the terroir without ever modifying it: delicate pressing, use of two-beaked goat cheese, regular stirring during aging in barrels (50% of which are renewed each year).
His style is inimitable, he creates pure and elegant wines, with aromas notably of vine flower and roasted hazelnut, whose finesse and persistence are out of the ordinary. The extraordinary talents of Raphaël Coche-Dury have earned him an unrivaled reputation. The wines are unfortunately too rare to satisfy all wine lovers. But this is an area that every great Chardonnay enthusiast must have tasted at least once in their life.
