This vintage brings together three plots for 1.26 hectares of this 1er Cru which sees twenty, thirty and fifty year old Chardonnays flourish on its clay-limestone terroir. Aging takes place for 12 months in barrels, 25% new, and 6 months in vats. The intensity of the nose is adorned with a floral refinement accompanying the ripe white fruits and the delicious notes of grilled hazelnuts. The palate plays to perfection the ambivalence between a delicious fullness, rich and caressing on a ripe fruitiness, and the underlying refreshing liveliness then gushing, pure and delicate for a finish of stunning balance.

Details

The name of the Leflaive estate will long be associated with its famous ambassador Anne-Claude who, with the energy of the pioneers, converted the estate to biodynamics between 1993 and 1997. The Leflaive family has lived in Puligny since 1717. But it took the genius of a maritime engineer and polytechnician to revive an estate devastated by the phylloxera. After participating in the design of the first French submarine, Joseph Leflaive returned to his native village, replanted and made the estate's wines known well beyond the French borders. The third generation, Olivier and his cousin Anne-Claude, will consecrate the estate to the top of the Burgundian hierarchy. A true precursor and ambassador of biodynamics, Anne-Claude Leflaive will have greatly marked the history of this movement, of her estate and of French viticulture, until her death in 2015.
Tasting the estate's wines is a unique experience for any enthusiast. The particular attention paid to the vines and winemaking allows the particularly rich wines to reveal all the subtleties of the different Burgundian terroirs. Montrachet, Bâtard, Chevalier, Bienvenue-Bâtard and the Premiers Crus Folatières or Pucelles are wines with fundamentally different identities. These Chardonnays are renowned worldwide for their straight, refined and crystalline profile. Rare vintages, worth tasting at least once in your amateur life!
