Details

Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau has masterfully led this exceptional estate dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc since his father's death in September 2008. The use of yeasts selected in their vineyard, tight settling and long aging on lees without racking remain the basis of an absolute quest for the crystalline expression of Sauvignon Blanc, enhanced by precise aging in wood, in barrels larger than cigar barrels (320 l) or tons (600 l). Seven cuvées make up the range: Blanc Etc..., a blend of four plots; Pur Sang, a blend from the Folie sector; Buisson Renard, a plot from Saint-Andelain, more compact; Silex, which displays the crystalline purity of flint clays; not forgetting the extremely rare Clos du Calvaire (20 ares planted at 14,000 vines per hectare, uprooted in 2009 and replanted in another direction at 10,000 vines per hectare), and Astéroïde, from a single-vineyard harvested always very ripe, aged in glass globes to preserve freshness and “be as close as possible to the terroir”, according to the winemaker. The Sancerre de Chavignol comes from the heart of the grand cru of the Côte des Monts Damnés.
