Gradually established by the Léglise family, originally from Libourne, around the mid-18th century, Château L’Évangile quickly became considered a “Premier Cru du Haut-Pomerol.” After being owned by the Ducasse family, it was acquired in 1990 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite, eager to bring the estate to its best. From the vineyard to the winery, Château L’Évangile has undergone significant restructuring and modernization, enabling the property to shine among the finest examples of the Pomerol appellation.

Château L’Évangile is a Pomerol wine from a vineyard in a privileged location between Château Pétrus to the north and Château Cheval Blanc to the south. The vineyard is planted on sandy-clay soils with pure gravel, resting on a subsoil composed of the famous iron ore.
