Created in the first half of the 20th century after receiving a few vines as an inheritance, the Etienne Sauzet estate quickly expanded by acquiring new vines. Right away, Etienne Sauzet knew how to produce great wines.
It was Gérard Boudot (husband Jeanine Boudot, granddaughter of Etienne Sauzet) who, from 1974, took the estate to the top. A policy of limited yields, harvests as late as possible, followed by classic vinification marked by settling (which allows aging on very fine lees) contribute to creating wines of great regularity and exemplary finesse, unanimously praised by French and foreign wine lovers. Please note: since 1989, following the division of the estate, Gérard Boudot has carried out a parallel trading activity and purchased musts to complete his production, without the quality being altered. Since Etienne Sauzet, four generations have succeeded one another, and today it is Emilie Boudot (great-granddaughter of the founder) and Benoît Riffault who have taken care of the estate for 20 years.
Many great appellations from the Côte de Beaune are produced by the family, which farms more than 10 hectares organically and biodynamically. Let us cite, for example, some notable climats such as Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Les Combettes or Champ Canet. The family also produces great wines that are a dream for all lovers: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet... or even Corton Charlemagne.
Sauzet is a name that still resonates as one of the most beautiful tributes to chardonnay.
