The monks call him Lucien, his friends call him Le Moine. Mounir Saouma, his real name, is a living legend, a winemaking druid. Madly in love with Burgundy, he learned the ropes there from his uncle, the Father Abbot. When he arrived in France with his wife Rothem, the Côte d'Or was his refuge. He first enjoyed taking over several estates before creating his own, working with the grapes of winegrower friends. He quickly sourced select Premiers Crus and Grands Crus. In total, 38 Burgundy crus are now bottled under his own label, and the Domaine's name was a natural fit: Lucien Le Moine. The juices are vinified and aged using ancient and traditional Burgundian techniques learned at the Monastery. The entire range quickly established itself at the top of the great Burgundy wines. The story is as magical as the wines.
