At the heart of the Pomerol appellation, which produces some of the most iconic Bordeaux wines, Château L’Égliset-Clinet seems almost like a newcomer. The estate was founded in 1882, when a Mr. Mauléon-Rouchut, ancestor of Denis Durantou, combined plots of Clos L’Église, belonging to his family, and neighboring Château Clinet, then owned by the Constants, to form a new vineyard. Located not far from the Saint-Jean de Pomerol Church, the cru, covering an area of ​​nearly 5 hectares, was initially called Clos L’Église-Clinet. At that time, wine production was not enough for the owner to survive: he lived on his farm, which provided the majority of his income. In 1942, the Durantou family joined forces with Pierre Lasserre, who now runs the estate and markets his wine. In the 1950s, the decision was made to rename the wine: the 1955 vintage was the first to be labeled "Château L'Église-Clinet." Since then, Château L'Église-Clinet has gained in visibility, becoming one of the trusted names in Pomerol and the Right Bank.

A wine aesthete and talented winemaker, Denis Durantou passed away in May 2020, after bringing L'Église-Clinet to the top of the appellation in just a few years. Noémie Durantou, working alongside loyal cellar master Olivier Gautrat, now continues her father's work and vision. The average age of the vineyard is over 40 years. Vinified with rigor and precision in a spirit that blends classicism and modernity, emphasizing elegance, the wines are made for aging.
