"Impressive nose and a bit humbling as we argue that the white is the one to pay up from these guys. But this rolled in and everyone went wow! We guessed this was cab sauv and franc based as it did have an intenses herbyness. We should have picked up on the smokiness of the Syrah though. Beautiful wine , at peak now and for those we love well aged classic wines this will be a proper treat"

Details

In Aniane, the Grange des Pères estate was born in the late 1980s with Laurent Vaillé, who after doing an internship with Eloi Durrbach in Trévallon, then with Gérard Chave and Jean-François Coche-Dury took over the family estate, supplemented by a few plots of scrubland in the Arboussas massif. After 3 years of clearing work, the first vines were planted in 1988 and produced their first vintage in 1992. The success was immediate, and to this day, the estate has 13 hectares of vineyards and the famous red wine of the estate is composed of Syrah and Mourvèdre at 35/40%, Cabernet Sauvignon, Counoise and Petit Verdot since 2006 for the latter. The exceptional white wine (produced on 2 hectares and at less than 5,000 bottles/year), is composed of 80% Roussanne, 15% Marsanne and the remainder Gros Manseng (the Chardonnay has disappeared since 2008 and has been grafted onto Roussanne).
