This vintage is very elegant. Selection of the oldest vines (over 70 years old) from plots located in the Village appellation. Many are located in the climate of La Combe du Dessus, a very gently sloping climate located on both sides of the road which goes up to Combe Lavaux. The proximity of Combe Lavaux gives it this chiseled and fresh side.

Details

It is one of the most famous areas of Gevrey-Chambertin. The history of the Mortet estate began in 1956 with Charles Mortet. This magnificent estate has plots in the best terroirs of Gevrey, notably the famous Lavaux Saint-Jacques. It has been operated since 2006 by Laurence Mortet and her two children, Clémence and Arnaud. Since the 1990s, the estate has grown through the purchase of small plots. The planted area today is twelve hectares. In 2016, Arnaud and Clémence created the Arnaud Mortet estate: four hectares of additional vines on plots located exclusively in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation.

The estate has around a hundred plots on a vineyard stretching from Daix, in the heights of Dijon, to Vougeot. But it is in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation that the estate flourishes. Arnaud Mortet follows in the footsteps of his grandfather and father. The vinification is classic, a little new wood for aging, little sulfur and aging for 16 to 18 months on average. The estate produces 14 vintages, all red: six premiers crus, five grands crus, including the famous Chambertin, three village appellations and a Burgundy wine “cuvée de noble strain” which comes from a plot in Daix. With such terroirs, the estate's wines are remarkably “pinotent”, they are silky and round with this elegance characteristic of the great wines of Burgundy.
