L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne Sauternes 1er Grand Cru Classé 2003 OWC1

The history of Château Doisy-Däene as a wine estate began in the 18th century. Thanks to his marriage, Jean Védrines obtained management of the castle, where he planted vines. Located in the locality of Doisy, in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, the castle was divided under the reign of Napoleon I. The owner at the time, Jean-Jacques Emmanuel Däene, then saw the opportunity to add his surname to the name of the castle. It was therefore under the name Château Doisy-Däene that the property was classified in 1855 among the second growths.

Georges Dubourdieu acquired the Château in 1924 and continued to develop the estate. His son Denis takes over. Invested in viticulture and in the defense of Bordeaux heritage, the latter has been providing oenology courses at the University of Bordeaux since 1987. He is also considered one of the masters of white wine vinification. With his wife Florence, they maintain and enhance the vineyard until passing it on to their children. Today it is Fabrice and Jean-Jacques, the two heirs, who are in charge of the estate.
