Laurent Perrier's first rosé was launched in 1968. But it was in 1982 that the "prestige" rosé cuvée, the Alexandra cuvée, was born, produced only in great vintages. The cellar master's work is geared towards obtaining the best aromas of fresh red fruits (wild strawberry, redcurrant), and optimal liveliness. Long accompanied by the "Grand Siècle" label, the cuvée was detached from it in 2004 to be simply called "Cuvée Alexandra."

Details

Founded in 1812, Laurent Perrier is today one of the most important Champagne houses (fifth largest Champagne group), remaining largely family-owned. Like other widowed women in Champagne, Mathilde Laurent-Perrier developed innovative ideas for the time. Indeed, at the end of the 19th century, when sweet champagnes were highly valued, she marketed a "great wine without sugar," a forerunner of modern champagne. Today, cellar master Michel Fauconnet oversees the "Laurent Perrier taste," characterized by ever-increasing proportions of Chardonnay, for a highly appreciated aperitif style. The house also owns the Salon, Delamotte, De Castellane, and Jeanmaire brands. 150 hectares are under cultivation, representing 10% of the bottles sold.
