Details

In a region where most properties barely exceed 10 hectares, Troplong Mondot (founded in the 17th century) is one of the largest estates in Saint-Emilion, with its 33 hectares. Château Troplong Mondot, Premier Grand Cru Classé, is at the top of the Saint-Emilion appellation, with a grape variety of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced from a large clay-limestone terroir, Troplong Mondot wine has complex tannins that develop over time into deep aromas of black truffle. Christine Valette-Pariente and her husband Xavier Pariente have managed the estate together since 1980 and have ensured the excellence of powerful, finely structured wines with ample and complex tannins, and a nose of truffle and blackberries. Following the takeover of Château Troplong Mondot by the SCOR group in 2017, Aymeric de Gironde, formerly Managing Director of Cos d'Estournel, took over as Chairman of the property's board of directors and has set himself the goal of making Troplong Mondot one of the greatest wines in the world.
