Domaine Edmond Vatan is located in Chavignol. This estate, which produces only about 4,000 bottles per year, is highly secretive. Edmond Vatan, who passed away in 2022, was considered one of Sancerre's legendary winemakers, producing nearly sixty vintages.
The tiny Clos La Néore, composed of old vines, is located south of the Monts Damnés. The vines face south on Kimmeridgian limestone. The Vatan family has successfully exploited this exceptional terroir and brought out the best in Sauvignon Blanc. Anne Vatan now manages this secretive estate.
