Details

François Chidaine comes from a family of winegrowers from the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation. Before founding his own estate, he supported his parents in the family business in 1984 and immediately assumed significant responsibilities. He decided to branch out on his own in 1989 and created Domaine François Chidaine by combining several scattered plots, totaling 4 hectares. Winegrowers Didier Dagueneau and Nady Foucault convinced him from the outset to move towards organic viticulture. The first five years at Domaine François Chidaine were difficult.

The winemaker nevertheless adapted and began converting to biodynamics in 1989 under the guidance of his consultant, François Bouchet. In 1999, his parents ceased their business and transferred their entire vineyard to him, and François Chidaine was then at the helm of a 17-hectare estate. He was supported by his wife Manuela, who opened a tasting cellar in 2000. In 2002, the winemaker took over the Clos Baudoin vines and reached the 27-hectare mark.
