Dom Pérignon Champagne owes its name to the famous monk and procurator of the Hautvillers Abbey in 1668, Pierre Pérignon (known as Dom Pérignon). According to legend, Pierre Pérignon discovered what is now known as the méthode champenoise. Incidentally, he taught this method in 1669 to the Benedictine Thierry Ruinart, who thus enabled another famous Champagne house, Maison Ruinart, to historically become the first Champagne House in 1729.
The Dom Pérignon Champagne brand is a Champagne House directly inspired by and imbued with the philosophy of Pierre Pérignon, which is based on the pursuit of the ultimate perfection of Champagne wine.
