Details

Château La Fleur-Pétrus is one of the most renowned vineyards in Pomerol. This historic estate, whose plots were located in the localities of 'Pétrus' and 'La Fleur', took its name in the 18th century. Jean-Pierre Moueix, who had been living in Libourne since 1937, quickly recognized the excellent quality of the Pomerol appellation. Château La Fleur-Pétrus was his very first acquisition in 1950. He quickly acquired Château Trotanoy in 1953.

The personality of Château La Fleur-Pétrus lies in the combination of the great gravel and clay soils of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard, located at an altitude of 33 to 38 meters, draws its identity from the nuances of soil and elevation. The predominantly gravelly plots bring great elegance, while those predominantly clay produce velvety, dense, and structured wines.

Château La Fleur-Pétrus is composed primarily of Merlot, which brings suppleness and generosity. The Cabernet Francs, planted on gravel and fine clay, contribute their rigor and complexity, while a small percentage of Petit Verdot, planted on fine gravel, adds a spicy touch to the finish.

The wine combines the elegance characteristic of the vintage with the generosity and structure typical of the great Pomerol wines. A careful tasting reveals remarkable finesse and complexity with a hint of violet.
