Details

Owned exclusively by the Joly family, the Coulée de Serrant vineyard constitutes its own appellation, covering just 7 hectares.

The vineyard was planted in 1130 by Cistercian monks and today comprises vines ranging from 35 to 80 years old. The former small monastery still exists, and a few hundred meters away, the Château de la Roche aux Moines was built before being dismantled during the Wars of Religion.

Constantly considered a rare and unique product, Coulée de Serrant was celebrated by Louis XI and Louis XIV as one of the finest French white wines.

The vineyard is cultivated partly by hand and with horses due to the steepness of its slopes overlooking the Loire River.

Since 1984, the entire estate has been cultivated according to biodynamic farming methods. Three wines are produced in small quantities on the property and benefit from the principles of biodynamic agriculture: the "Coulée de Serrant", the "Clos de la Bergerie" and "Les Vieux Clos".
