Details

Founded in 1864 then acquired by the Álvares family in 1982, Vega Sicilia has built an international reputation. A fabulous estate, Vega Sicilia is located in northern Castile, in the DO Ribera del Duero wine region, but also extends into the DO Toro region of southern Castile. Today, the constant search for excellence, harmony with nature, rigor and relentless dedication make it a prestigious reference. The estate is known for its respect for local traditions, its passion for quality and its commitment to the environment.

Bordering the Douro River, the 210-hectare vineyard is divided into three grape varieties: Tempranillo (also called Tinto Fino), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 140 hectares of the appellation are reserved for the production of the Valbuena and Unico vintages.

Vega Sicilia Unico is considered one of the most prestigious and emblematic wines of Spain. It comes from the oldest vines on the estate, planted on clay-limestone soils. The Tempranillo is blended here with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to give it structure. The wine is then aged for around 6 years in French and American oak barrels, before being bottled.

Harmony and depth, Vega Sicilia Unico is one of the greatest wines of Spain and the world. A rare and precious wine, which is very appreciated by amateurs.
