Founded 200 years ago, La Gorce is located in the northern Médoc. Its clay and limestone soil, close to the Gironde estuary, allows the Merlot grapes to fully flourish and offer the full-bodied character that has defined the estate's wines. In 2018, Emmanuel and Mana Martin began the organic conversion process and introduced major innovations. In 2022, they planted white grape varieties to reconnect with the tradition of Médoc white wines.
With the help of Thomas Duclos, an oenologist specializing in issues related to climate change, they are convinced that, in a suitable terroir, Merlot is a grape variety of the future, within a sustainable framework: "We are constantly evolving our practices, with the ultimate goal of eliminating all forms of tilling in order to produce wines that perfectly reflect the identity of our terroir." The range is expanding with the creation of several cuvées, produced according to a plot-by-plot approach.
