Château Hosanna, a vineyard measuring just 4.5 hectares, is admirably situated in the heart of the Pomerol plateau, adjacent to some of the appellation's most illustrious estates: to the north, Château Lafleur; to the east, Château Pétrus; to the west, Château La Fleur-Pétrus; and to the south, Vieux Château Certan.
The current Château Hosanna vineyard is the culmination of a long and rich history. Named Hosanna upon its acquisition by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1999, the vineyard comprises some parcels of the former Château Certan Giraud, considered one of Pomerol's premier crus since the 1950s. It was formerly part of the de May family estate, who settled on the Pomerol plateau in the 16th century and planted one of the appellation's first vineyards.
Only the highest plots on the plateau were retained to form part of the Hosanna vineyard. The vineyard benefits from a soil blending red gravel and clay over iron-rich subsoil, renowned for its ability to produce very elegant, complex, and powerful wines, revealing remarkable notes of dark chocolate. Very old Cabernet Franc vines, some dating back to 1956, contribute to the unique elegance and complexity of this vintage.
A full-bodied and generous wine, combining finesse and balance, with a remarkably silky texture, Château Hosanna is considered by some to be the feminine embodiment of Trotanoy.
