The first vines on the Alain Graillot estate were planted in the late 1960s. In addition to the 17 hectares of vines he planted over the years—particularly between 1968 and 1973—he tended fruit trees and cared for his farm animals. He cultivated and vinified his own wine, but the aging and bottling were entrusted to the Delas wine merchant. He later decided to become independent and terminated this contract.
Alain Graillot, a 40-year-old electrochemical engineer, moved to the estate in 1985 with his family. He entrusted the grape cultivation to a worker who had already been employed at the estate since 1973, but he personally handled the treatments. When Alain Graillot definitively acquired the property in 1988, he undertook the construction of new cellars and offices. In 1989, he released his first vintage, produced entirely on-site, including bottling.
Since 2008, Maxime and Antoine have taken over from their father, Alain Graillot, at the helm of Domaine Graillot, which comprises 22 hectares. The estate produces 19 hectares of Syrah and 3 hectares of white wines, primarily Marsanne with a small amount of Roussanne.
