Details

Maison Chapoutier, undoubtedly one of the most prestigious names in the Rhône Valley, produces its most prestigious bottles in the Hermitage appellation. The estate covers 360 hectares of vines converted to biodynamic farming. It is currently the largest vineyard in France to have adopted this cultivation method, having been certified in 1999. Chapoutier is often the last to harvest its vines, in order to achieve optimal grape maturity. Chapoutier's expertise has also spread to other vineyards: Provence, Beaujolais, Roussillon, Champagne, Alsace, Portugal, and even South Australia. The family history began in 1808, but it was truly defined in 1879, when Polydor Chapoutier purchased a few hectares of vines to become a winemaker and merchant. Since then, seven generations have succeeded one another, up to Michel Chapoutier. He now works with his children Mathilde and Maxime. Together, they continue the family legacy with the desire to showcase the unique characteristics of the region.
