When he married in 1924, Georges Roumier inherited a few plots of land which belonged to his wife. He then took charge of his wife's family wine estate, which then spread over several plots of the Chambolle-Musigny and Bonnes-Mares appellations. The end of the Second World War marked the real development of the estate, and the beginning of recognition of wines bearing the Roumier signature. In 1945, Georges Roumier initiated bottling at the estate. He expanded the farm by purchasing various plots of land in Bonnes-Mares and Clos Vougeot and in 1953 acquiring an entire farm located in Morey-Saint-Denis, Clos de la Bussière. His son, Jean-Marie Roumier, continued this growth and extended the estate to the Corton Charlemagne and Musigny appellations. Since 1982, the talented Christophe Roumier has brilliantly managed the estate patiently built up by his father and grandfather. It is now one of the most popular Burgundy estates in the world for its Musigny and its Chambolle 1er cru Les Amoureuses. Today, the estate has 11.8 hectares, among the most popular on the Côte de Nuits. Two vintages (Charmes-Chambertin and Ruchottes-Chambertin) come from sharecropping plots. They are labeled Christophe Roumier but have benefited from the same attention from the estate's teams. The vines are managed according to the principles of sustainable control, no fertilizers or herbicides before a manual harvest of perfectly ripe grapes. After meticulous sorting and partial destemming, the grapes are then ready for vinification, then aging, which lasts between 15 and 18 months
