An emblematic property of the renowned Pauillac appellation, the name Château Haut-Batailley is derived from the word "battle" in memory of the battles that allegedly took place on the estate at the end of the Hundred Years' War in the 15th century.
A Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the Official Classification of 1855, the property has always stood out among the finest Crus of the Médoc, on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region. Owned by Madame Des Brest-Borie and her family since the 1930s, Château Haut-Batailley was previously managed on a leased basis by François-Xavier Borie.
In 2017, Château Haut-Batailley saw a new chapter in its history with the transfer of ownership to the Cazes family, who are continuing the work initiated by the Borie family with the aim of perpetuating the style and quality of this essential cru with its strong identity.
A superb estate spanning some forty hectares, including 22 hectares of vineyards averaging 35 years old, Château Haut-Batailley boasts a typically Médoc grape variety featuring the region's flagship red grape, Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), complemented by Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (5%).
Equipped with modern technical facilities and a dedicated team, Château Haut-Batailley's future looks promising for the coming vintages, continuing to shine among the finest wines of the Pauillac appellation.
