The Leflaive estate has a very beautiful plot on the 1er cru Clavoilon (4.7 hectares). The vines were planted there from 1959. The pneumatic pressing is long and gentle, with decanting for 24 hours then settling and barreling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels (22% new wood) then aging (in barrels) lasts approximately 12 months, to which is added 6 months of additional aging in vats. The wine is very lightly fined then filtered if necessary. It produces a superb Puligny which plays on the register of gourmandise with intense fruit. The saline finish impresses with its elegance. It is recommended to let it age in the cellar for between 6 and 20 years.

Details

The name of the Leflaive estate will long be associated with its famous ambassador Anne-Claude who, with the energy of the pioneers, converted the estate to biodynamics between 1993 and 1997. The Leflaive family has lived in Puligny since 1717. But it took the genius of a maritime engineer and polytechnician to revive an estate devastated by the phylloxera. After participating in the design of the first French submarine, Joseph Leflaive returned to his native village, replanted and made the estate's wines known well beyond the French borders. The third generation, Olivier and his cousin Anne-Claude, will consecrate the estate to the top of the Burgundian hierarchy. A true precursor and ambassador of biodynamics, Anne-Claude Leflaive will have greatly marked the history of this movement, of her estate and of French viticulture, until her death in 2015.
Tasting the estate's wines is a unique experience for any enthusiast. The particular attention paid to the vines and winemaking allows the particularly rich wines to reveal all the subtleties of the different Burgundian terroirs. Montrachet, Bâtard, Chevalier, Bienvenue-Bâtard and the Premiers Crus Folatières or Pucelles are wines with fundamentally different identities. These Chardonnays are renowned worldwide for their straight, refined and crystalline profile. Rare vintages, worth tasting at least once in your amateur life!
