"For the table of Kings and the altar of the Gods" is the motto of Château d'Issan. And for good reason! This wine was served at the wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry Plantagenet in 1152. Château d'Issan was also found at the court of Emperor Franz Joseph in Vienna, many centuries later. The vineyard is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation on a superb gravelly terroir rich in pebbles. A wine of finesse and elegance, expressing the exquisite bouquet unique to the Margaux region, it is distinguished by its suppleness, charm, and finesse, all specific to its terroir.
Emmanuel Cruse arrived at Issan in 1995 and took over from his father in 1998. The arrival of substantial resources having enabled the château, at the beginning of the 2000s, to equip itself with efficient winemaking and aging equipment, the wines have progressed, gaining in body.
