Some wine-growing terroirs have, throughout the ages, been considered true treasures of heritage, as the wines produced there surpass in quality all those enjoyed alongside them. The Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche belongs to this pantheon. This vineyard (2.06 hectares, the largest in the Grand Cru), has been in the hands of the de Laguiche family since 1776. Maison Joseph Drouhin has been at their side to manage the estate, vinify and age this exceptional wine, and maintain its worldwide reputation since 1947.

Details

With 80 hectares, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest in the region. It is spread across the entire Burgundy region: Chablis (38 hectares), Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune (38.5 hectares), Côte Chalonnaise (3.5 hectares), and comprises a majority of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, planted with the two Burgundian grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The estate has been built over time through judicious acquisitions and family partnerships. Some plots are among the most famous Burgundy crus, such as Clos des Mouches, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, and Corton-Charlemagne, among others.

For certain communal and regional appellations, Joseph Drouhin supplements its sourcing with long-standing partner winegrowers who share its high standards.

Starting with the 2008 vintage, to express his attachment to this historic terroir, the "Vaudon" name is now associated with Joseph Drouhin for all of his Chablis wines.

The Moulin de Vaudon, owned by Joseph Drouhin, is a former 18th-century watermill located a short distance from the Grands Crus of Chablis, spanning the Serein, the iconic river that runs through the town of Chablis and its vineyards. It is the historic headquarters of the estate and constitutes an exceptional location within its 38-hectare Chablis vineyard.
