95/100 Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider: "Wow! Sensual notes of cherries, truffles, chocolate, incense, and spices capture the attention. On the palate, the wine is rich, concentrated, long, tannic, fresh, and structured. Still young, the finish is fresh, with lingering notes of spice, fresh cherry, and plum. If you like young wines, don't hesitate to open the cork. I give mine at least ten years of cellaring."

Details

Founded in the mid-18th century, Château Lafleur is an estate steeped in history. Since 1872, it has belonged to the Guinaudeau family, who have perpetuated their exceptional winemaking expertise passed down from generation to generation. Unlike most Bordeaux estates, Château Lafleur has never adopted the Grands Crus Classés system, preferring to remain true to its own philosophy: producing unique wines, where each vintage reflects the soul of the terroir.

Over the decades, the Guinaudeau family has preserved the authenticity of the estate while innovating to continually improve the quality of the wines. Today, Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau, supported by their son Baptiste, pursue this quest for excellence with passion and dedication. This respect for tradition, combined with a modern vision, makes Château Lafleur a key player in the Pomerol appellation.

The Château Lafleur vineyard covers only 4.5 hectares, making it one of the smallest estates in Pomerol. This modest size allows for meticulous care of each plot. The estate's terroir is a true geological gem, composed of a subtle blend of gravel, clay, and sand. This complex soil gives the wines remarkable structure and elegance, while allowing for a unique expression of Bordeaux's iconic grape varieties: Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Château Lafleur adopts sustainable viticulture practices that respect the environment. The vines, with an average age of 40 years, are cultivated with extreme care, promoting low yields and optimal quality. Hand-harvesting allows for rigorous bunch selection, ensuring that only the most perfect grapes are used in the winemaking process. This meticulous work in the vineyards results in wines of exceptional precision, in which the Pomerol terroir is fully expressed.
